Hearts of Gold

Hearts of Gold

The Hearts of Gold Arts Project is an idea in how to bring people together, who may be feeling isolated, anxious and depressed. It is in recognition and gratitude for the selfless work being carried out by all NHS staff and keyworkers in the Covid 19 pandemic which started in 2019. Just as the rainbow symbol was used to convey our support and thanks for their courageous efforts during this time of crisis. The rainbows were created and recognised as a symbol of gratitude. They were placed in windows, in cars, on T-shirts and where ever they could be viewed all over the country and beyond.

In an attempt to keep the momentum going and in appreciation of the work still being done in such a truly tragic time in our human history. I thought about ways in which it could happen. The metaphor, came to mind, of ‘having a Heart of Gold’ when describing people who carry out great acts of kindness and random acts of beauty. The idea of creating an arts pack, which would contain arts activities with easy to follow instructions, information relating to the heart and heart health. The artworks would be suitable for all ages and abilities, can be easily displayed in the same way the rainbows were.
